I came across these video's and saw they're using variomatic transmission, which I believe are from a scooter.
Anyone has experience with this?
remember I brought that subject up about that type of transmission in the past... thumb1.PNG
think it would be fun to play around with a high performance unit and see how well it would work on a built clone.
only thing it might take to make it work is a lathe and I think we both have one of them....:)

I found this website and they seem to make a lot of different sets and parts that are being sold all over the world by different sellers. As I have seen their "JII" branding on some parts before...
http://www.motorcycleclutch.com/
It doesn't tell anything about dimensions etc.

JII branding on this part, close to the bottom.
I also found new Polaris primary clutches for sale for under $100,-. Again, no dimensions, but my guess is that these are way to big.

I had ordered a cheap variator (with rollers) for a scooter and it had arrived, but it is (to) small in diameter. It is just 88mm (3,5"). It is lightweight. And it is for a 15mm belt. But it is nice to see how it works, even though I will not use it.
Meanwhile I came across this old (1958) video about Dutch Daf car, with variomatic drive system at 0:28 and a big 600CC engine...:

I also found this:
Doppler ER3, it's an aftermarket (100mm) vario for a Peugeot 103 moped.

For 2 stroke use... But I like the way it is build/design. Easy to tweak, by adding weights to the arms/levers.

crazy little car to have today.
interesting way to adjust the weights on that doppler.
