ridiculously overpriced ebay mini bike parts.

Ive been noticing lately some actions starting with parts for popular bikes like rupps and speedways that have been started with such A high price that no one even bids on them. mind you ebay prices are high already and I've regularly seen these exact parts sell, in an auction, for around sometimes over 100$ less then the price the seller lists them for. There are some parts that demand very high prices, a Dellorto carb for instance regularly sells for 300$ or so and a mini bike correct hs40 engine complete and running can be 400+. these are rare parts that are in demand and hard to find so the price is justified but asking sky high price for parts commonly found on ebay that sell for far less like rupp tanks or rims or fenders is ridiculous ( just examples). A part wont sell if you list it above the price you see them selling for at the end of an auction. anyone else see this allot? what do you think is going threw the head of the seller?

Spotted this today. Is this a rare item that justifies that kind of price?
You didn't see the one in the original box for more than double that?

I thought I wanted one of those soooo bad until a couple people told me what junk they are functionally.

That was just an example. and remember those are ebay prices where the hole world can bid on them so competition is fierce. the hs40's in question are normally the early versions from the 1970's with the curved top less deep shroud. and aluminum flywheel. the square topped deeper shroud ones with cast iron flywheels aren't correct for restorations so they aren't worth much at all. I regularly find them in the 50-100$ range. I wont even buy a late model hs40 I stick to hs50s they look identical but have more power. for the top dollar 1970s engines the price varies and is dependent on condition and weather or not it has a lighting coil. obviously a lighting coil is more desirable. also to get the top price it needs to run perfect and look perfect.

I see truly rare old exotic Auto parts priced like this. Truly these are not an auction but far more of a "Look what I have and you don't".

If you want a shock just search Boss 429 parts... Definitely a "Look what I have" search.

See what I mean... Mini Bike parts are cheap comparatively.

That's funny and true, I had a couple old Kar Kraft items on my watch list not sell for years.

GT-40 Lightning tubular intake manifolds and NOS Bronco spare tire covers are better investments than gold apparently, the prices double every two years.

Hmmm...I have one of those HS40s with the aluminum flywheel that I took off an Artic Cat project. It has a bent exhaust valve but the piston is so clean and the cylinder walls are like new. Maybe I will spend some time and get it all detailed.
