Torque converter engaged when trying to start

I just put a new predator 224 with a new 30 series torque converter on my warrior 200. When I pull the rope the converter is engaged. If I pull on the belt it will free up and I cam start it but if I sit idling it will engage and kill the motor. Any ideas on what to do?

Something is wrong with your converter install. Can you post a picture. Belt should be free on the driver and the bronze bush should let it slip freely. Did you put the belt on correctly with the angled side out?

I was messing with it last night and I think that's the issue.

The back flat face of the driver and driven need to be in line. Use a piece of string and shim as needed to get the alignment right.

The outer cover on the on the driver pulley was bent and it wasn't setting on the hub straight. The driver pulley was setting cockeyed and causing the belt to pinch.
