Question about lighted aluminum flywheels and electric starters Hs50

#1
So we all know that the lighted aluminum Hs50 flywheels do not have the ring gear with starter teeth.
Has anyone ever tried to modify a lighted aluminum flywheel to accept the starter ring gear? Is it even possile?
Thanks
I know some of you guys (and gals) have lathes

Ring gears are shrink fit to the flywheel, if there is enough room to turn a place at the edge of the flywheel, it can be done. Some flywheels have the teeth diecast right into them and that would be a deal breaker.

damn wish i knew you needed one. i just turned an HS50 alloy flywheel on the lathe removing the electric start gear teeth. i would have traded you for a toothless version... As a consequence though i have an HS40 alloy flywheel with starter teeth. i can trade you that for a normal 32517 flywheel.

tecumseh stopped making alloy flywheels about 1975ish.
And frankly the 1970s cast iron hs50 flywheel weighs about the same as a 1970s alloy hs50 flywheel. so if you're doing this for weight savings, getting an hs40 alloy flywheel is the way to go.
