The mini bike is an ARCO ez rider. I will add the info from the id tag later. I stripped it painted it installed a predator 79cc (stock) on it and new tires steering bushings and much more. It has a set dirt bike bar on it now but the original are included also has a spun aluminum gas tank but I...
Those are the only pics I have. I should have taken some while I made the hub to hold the six inch wheel. Right now I am working on the HS40 engine. It’s being a pain. Hence the weak little 79cc engine on there I thought might work.
Got the wheel situation taken care of and finally fitted the last piece on it. A kickstand!
The 6 inch rear wheel is a mix of parts from what I had bought and what I had. I took the hub from the six inch wheel and chain carrier cut it down then carefully removed the wheel mount from the hub by...
Ok I am going to figure it out tonight. Thanks. Like to get this one finished up. My plan was to re home it after I was done. I do have the original fuel tank and handlebars as well. And a HS40 engine that needs rebuilt.
I have an old ARCO ez rider and I am trying to figure out what size wheels were stock on this bike. I think it’s 4 inch but when I got it it had a 6 inch front and a 4 inch rear. Here is a picture so you can see the model I am speaking of.
Custom built Mini Trike. No it’s not safe for children it might not be safe for some adults lol. Custom frame built from dom tubing 1 inch. Fully Tig welded. Nice springer seat Maxxis 12x9 on Douglas 6 inch wheels. 1 inch live axle, hydraulic brakes with “parking” brake feature. Custom wheelie...
Got it done! Now back to the mini bike. I have a Briggs 5hp I want to use but I can’t fit it with the gas tank on it. Looking for an intake I can use with a Mikuni or similar carb.
That’s pretty much what I accomplished by moving where the axle was located. Got it all welded up today. Also got the wheelie bar done too! Now more painting. Then time to put it back together. I now have more than enough trail to make it nice and steady. And fixed the ride height.
I found that the biggest thing that would help is if the forks weren’t in the same line as the steering head. That’s why moving the axle back made so much difference. I will say that also induced a bit of rake cause it raised the front end a tad. I am going to lower the front by raising the axle...
The only catch is now the front sits up higher. I am going to have my buddy Tig weld the axle tabs up about 1 inch. I know I will lose some Trail though.
Yes as I understand it. Trail is how far the tire is ahead of the steering tube. If you drop a plumb bob from the head and measure forward to the front axle. I can take that measurement easy enough.
Yeah it’s a bit squirrelly on pavement. I think I can get it better. The guy that made the frame had one he built. He said 30mph was all they had the guts to do on paved roads.
Now in my yard the experience is totally different it handles at speed just fine. And something tells me if I had some...
The forks have the tire in front of them. There isn’t a lot of rake but compared to other things I have it doesn’t seem to out of line for the spec.
it is short the wheelbase from front axle to rear axle is 3ft 4in.
as far as selling it I might. It would be cheaper than most you see for sale...
Got a question for folks familiar with trikes like this.
Pulls to the right under harder throttle. Very squirrelly at speeds of 20 or more. I think the tire pressure has a lot to do with it but I have no idea where to start with them other than to make sure they are equal left to right. It would...
