Brute-Cycle made by Lakes Sports, Fairmont Minnesota restoration

Here are the photos of the new Brute Cycle. Engine was locked up, and the crank threads are broken on this one too. I did get the engine all tore down already. It will need a hone and new rings, a crank repair and a valve job before it goes back together. I think I will stick a different...

Bentonite grease is just grease that won't take on water. Assumedly because there are no seals on a Peerless dif...

That transmission grease is for 5 speed peerless transmissions, this is just a differential that was packed with grease. I used some expensive Kluber grease left over from a work project.

Brute-Cycle made by Lakes Sports, Fairmont Minnesota restoration

I disassembled the entire cycle, sanded and repainted the frame. It was too far gone with rust, and needed to be redone. I put all new bearings in and repacked the differential. I also tore apart the engine and lapped the valves, set the timing and fixed the flywheel as best I could. The...

Brute-Cycle made by Lakes Sports, Fairmont Minnesota restoration

Well, I got it running over the weekend, but not well. The original carburetor is shot, even after rebuilding it. I tried out a different carb, and that is the issue. I decided to just order a 25$ chinese one for the time being, until I locate a good original Tec body of the correct vintage...

Brute-Cycle made by Lakes Sports, Fairmont Minnesota restoration

Here are pictures of all the decals after cleaning up. The body decals still look pretty good for their age. However, the engine decal didn't hold up as well. The seats are in great shape, the bottom seat will need the zipper repaired, but there aren't even any rips in the vinyl.

Brute-Cycle made by Lakes Sports, Fairmont Minnesota restoration

I washed the thing tonight. I did my best to save the engine decal, but it practically rinsed right off. The frame is pretty rusty with the dirt off, I will have to paint at least the frame for sure. I did find where're the serial number is; on the top of the right rear tube. It starts with 72...

The serial number on the engine is dated 1972. I didn't think it was that old. What all years did they produce these?

I'm going a mechanical and partial cosmetic restoration on an old Brute Cycle that's been in the family forever. I have a few questions I hope someone can answer though, as information on these is very scarce. I would like to keep it as close to original as possible. The fiberglass seat...

    Got me a harley

That's any early production model, you can tell by the reflectors and the seat. I would not restore it, just refinish the seat. They are only original once.

    Aermacchi Harley-Davidson Minibike?? Anyone?

I've got a bunch of them. If you want the true minibike, 72 was the first year (65 cc), called an MC-65 Shortster. 3 speed, clutch, kickstart on the left, exhaust and kickstand on right. 73 they went to a new 90cc engine, mounted in the same frame as the 65cc. That was called an X-90. It...

    Harley X90 manufacture date

I've got a couple 1974 X-90's that have lost the stickers on the neck, the silver manufacturing sticker. I'm trying to get the date correct for the repop stickers, but I don't know the correct date for my serial number. Can anyone with original stickers let me know the manufacture date vs...
