I'd like to see some pix...

First thing I'd do is resist the temptation to "prime" the cylinder. Raw fuel in there is not going to help. Wear gloves. Hold the spark plug' treads against a good engine ground ( clean piece of metal). Have someone pull the starter and see if you have consistent good spark. If that's ok then...

Is there a place to mount a nice (round?) tank up on the frame somewhere?

Battery Damage

I'd definetly check with the battery manufactuer BEFORE drilling or screwing into the battery. Just looked on Duracell's site and they do show a warrantee against your light being damaged by their batteries. I'd think any of the big name manufacturers would do the same.

Yup, see that now. Cleaning up the bottom of the tubes looks much better.
