The 'mystery' bike. The owner had no idea what it was and ended up putting a sign on it hoping someone at the show might know. Don't know if anyone did recognize it. You can see the top frame member is slotted to allow the bike to collapse down to a smaller size ... and throw in the trunk? Had a...
I looked up an old thread on the F85 Matterhorn and the nearly identical Taco 102 in case any others were curious -
What is the differences between these two Steens Taco Mini Bikes?
Well, I'm mainly interested in two-stroke builds and there's less and less of them now. But here's a few pics I took.
A Steen's Matterhorn ( or is it a Taco 102 ? ) with Zundapp 5-speed engine from Justin. That would make a great project for someone.
In case you didn't see it in the Events forum -

Here's a "taste". The Russian ambassador gets the ball rolling -
See the full YouTube link above for what all happened and why...
I'm not a Bonanza expert but in the example link I gave ... that bike poses an extra little wrinkle. At first glance I thought that brown mass on the front fender was rust but looking closer it's the remains of a DMV? decal / sticker ... which I assume you might want to preserve.
BTW - I once...
So you are all saying you wouldn't do a single thing to the example bike? I'm not a bling guy and I prefer the look of clean, used metal. And any bike I have is going to get ridden, not sit on a shelf. But I'm not going to leave a mass of rust just sitting there. I think there's a whole range of...
Always been curious as to where others draw the line at an acceptable patina versus completely re-chroming or re-painting something. As most of us are often dealing with rusted basket cases, at what point do you jump straight to new paint / chrome vs polishing / cleaning up what is there.
Also...
Merely curious, not looking to drop that kind of coin .... but is there some sort of documentation showing that this was a Taco / Steen's built bike?
Which model Briggs? ... and what's the power on it?
I had gone in to a local bike shop to pick up some Stan's sealant for my emtb and spotted these Hurley electric bikes. What caught my eye was the seat which reminded me of the Taco Steens never built bike ad. And the bike that kram350 built off of the ad. ( Still would like to see a vid of that...
Thanks. Yeah, now I see the tank position is roughly the same as similar Bonanzas. Is there some leeway to pull the tank back a bit for easier fill access? Looks like just a couple hose clamps going to a bracket under the seat.
Odd marketing ploy though. If he simply used the word Bonanza...
So where does the term 'Tecumseh Little Giant' come from. Did the owner just make it up? (A Google search shows that Tecumseh actually had a subsidiary called Little Giant but those were utility pumps). It looks like a Bonanza.
I'm assuming the gas tank position is not stock. Looks...
