So a few posts ago the subject or question asked was about kill and start switches. I use a nice sturdy momentary switch from some near eastern country the red kill is left and the start is on the right so i can feather the throttle..hold the front brakes and push to start heres a shot
That is an option worth consideration
I stripped the bike down to a roller as I am still not comfortable with the minimal clearance at the rear wheel.... ongoing issue
I ordered some assorted 12mm spacers and will be revisiting this as soon as they arrive...I don't care about a completion...
So I run a total loss electrical system...the lights and LED are very low draw...the main draw is the starter motor I have been using this simple formula for the wiring and since the flywheel I run will not support lighting coils
I have a solution that is easy to conceal too. I use button start...
Wow...thats a bunch of great questions. I will answer in order
#1 If I decide to run a TC then I'll raise the motor...the blower housing...agree it needs to be paint matched for sure
#2 Thats the plan and the top plate will support a nice spun
aluminum round tank...the lights if I run them the...
Seems to be fine for now... I will shake it down pretty good before calling it a day. I have decided to go with this tank for now and I think i will make a top plate that runs from the seat to where the frame rises to meet the steering neck....this can support a nice barrel tank or a number of...
Sam has been great at supporting me in this and I think a fresh perspective from you guys will give me a direction to go in
We are snowed in here so no work...no mini bike as its at the shop and im not moving right now
I'm pretty sure i still am having clearance issues with my rear wheel...so here goes ...the rear wheel...complete with the brake disc Quick change hub and a split 72 tooth rear sprocket... I feel like when tightening the rear wheel axle the wheel gets tight too tight if i back off the nut it...
Fenders....not this bike...motor...
Though its tiny in comparison
The little 212 has a ton of
"Hot sauce" if ya know what i mean..i will post the motor build later...this little Tilly dynoed @ 18 HP...we shall see. I tell you what
There is a good deal of resistance turning the rear wheel
I...
Well Mr.Wizard i will take that as a compliment and I will continue to keep up with the progress.this is a cool build and im having fun doing it... I have to be careful with engineering the tank and battery box as it came to me powder coated...so no welding
Everything needed to complete this...
Well we're married up...motor in
Jack shaft partially assembled
Need to shorten it up..will get to that next. I have soooo much room for the fuel tank. I still think the MM 212 tank looks good
Still pondering options. I'm gonna get the old chain breaker a good work out setting up the 2...
Well I found out what was causing me so much trouble getting the rear wheel square in the swing arm....Seems that the rim has some offset built into it
Sam happened to ask me if the valve stem was on the sprocket side...it wasn't so I took the wheel off and swapped the rim on the hub and...
Just me thinking too much.
I have a pretty stout tillotson 212
Electric start thats built to an honest 15 hp. I am going to run with a torque converter. The bike is set up with a jack shaft final drive ( not sure how many teeth on the counter shaft gears )..the sprocket is a 62 tooth # 40 chain
I...
I've never run a jack shaft mini before so I will need guidance with this and im thinking about running a torque converter as well. I am old school...clutch chain and tensioner is where I have been most successful
There will be questions
Sorry no progress on the wren as my focus shifted to the MBK 1
Build...can you day ADHD !
I have everything repaired and bare metal so I'm prepared to resume work on it soon
There is a ton of room for a big block and a V twin...the design of the frame suggests a lot of possibilities. I have given some thought to a small displacement vintage motorcycle engine for my bike.
Well it rolls and stops ! Its a roller. It had its challenges setting up the brakes...everything is sooo tight and it required special hardware to make it happen but we're there now. The bars are pretty much set up... the brake lines gotta go. I have some custom barnett lines that may work.if...
A flat tank would be perfect for this bike.unless i want to fabricate a tank ( in a perfect world ) then I will have to play with some options. I will post up photos of my tank selection and wait to see what yall think
Happy safe and healthy new years to you all
