7 HP Flathead carb/governer setup with twist throttle

I think it was only the big cast iron ones with the points out there. I'm surprised bar and chain oil would splash enough to run for even 5 minutes. We ran a vertical shaft 6 horse so hard it was blowing oil out the exhaust, so we put a quart of 90 weight gear oil in it. It SMOKED, stunk...

You could remove that knurled nut and the rod it screws onto, install a cable in it's place with a return spring.

That is what's wrong with the rear suspension. The hinges are upside down. Thanks, I didn't really see that the first time. The front suspension is backward, too. The weight is pulling on the shock, not pushing. Watch how it reacts to those speed bumps. No suspension. I do like the axles.

    Old kart

I like to play with 2 strokes, but I use 4 stroke engines on equipment and the boy's toys. Some of the old Tecumseh 2 strokes used a filter that was like a shallow funnel with a screen and a piece of filter material. I thought that might be what you had on that engine. I have a Panther...

    How much more power raptor

My experience is that the Raptor has no governor, and it will rev higher, giving more potential speed, but they still have about the same power and torque.

I do not understand how the rear suspension works at all. That shock has no mechanical advantage at all. The front...the wheel looks like it would swing an arc if the suspension compressed at all. I have never seen anyone weld bolts or studs into a hole, either.

    West bend 820 gearing

How is your acceleration and what type of riding do you do? Do you have reason to go faster than 32 every time you ride?

    Briggs 5 hp ??

I would leave it, but if it bothers you, you could get a side cover and a cam from one that did not have that feature.

    Go Kart 800

I think snowmobiles use some pretty big driven pulleys. You might start there. I have another suggestion, let me find a listing... https://www.bmikarts.com/Clutch-Mount-with-Jackshaft_p_1129.html?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIta-oxfKHiwMVizgIBR0_OTZtEAQYAyABEgLHBfD_BwE...

Are you suggesting direct, variable belt drive to the axle? No chain?

Nice bike. I'm glad you didn't decide to paint the copper engine. That black one looks great on there. Its funny how strong those Briggs flatheads run.

    5 hp Briggs

You can remove the parts that are not being used, but take a picture and keep the parts, just because they are hard to find. You may never need them, but someone else might.

    Help with spark issues

I believe Tecumseh systems with points mount the coil inside, under the flywheel. I do think you can swap the assembly from an HS40.
