You might keep an eye out for small ATVs that are really messed up. You can rob the whole axle from those. The axles have the brake caliper brackets/brake calipers you can run to a handle bar up front. This is one easy solution for high power hydraulic brakes. Just search ebay for atv brake...

Could just changing from the stock filter to a cone style filter cause my predator engine to take several pulls to start? Maybe I need a bigger emulsion tube /jet?

That looks great and very cool to see this little platform used in such a big way. You may try welding on some steel weights to keep the front end down and behaving.
