I have a Tecumseh 10hp engine. My question is "Is there any advantage to advancing the flywheel timing on this engine"? It is a late model engine with the mag above the flywheel.

From what I can gather the 36974K is a 10hp rod, but maybe somewhere down the road Tecumseh changed the wrist pin dia to .688.

Well, I don't know except that I have a 8hp piston that measures .625 wrist pin and I have a 10hp piston that has a .688 pin. I went on the arc website and they sell Tecumseh billet rods. One of them is the .625 and the other is .688. I guess I will have to go with them.

O.K. you are right jretro. The 36974 fits the 8hp which has a .625 wrist pin. The 10hp has a .688 wrist pin. The crank diameters are the same. The ebay guy needs to change his description to 8hp. I will tell him when I get my refund.

I recently bought a rod on ebay titled Tecumseh racing rod #36974k. The problem is that it does not fit my engine. My engine is a newer 10hp medium frame Tecumseh flathead. The small end of the rod is to small for the piston pin. According to my research that rod should fit. Can anybody...

I will get some pics tonight after work. The Powell has the spring detent for the shifter. I know some have the rubber or what ever it is. I am not sure what year they went with the spring.
