Other than the Yam seat this old bike looks to be an original B&S from back in the day, I have an opportunity to pick this up on the cheap.
Does this look to be original? apparently it runs and drives pretty good as well.
The smoke in the background is from a goped.
Thoughts?
Just bought a replacement air Cleaner with filter but I'm missing the bolt that screws into the carb. This is an older Briggs 2hp engine. It has the straight carb with tank attached. What size bolt is used to hold down air cleaner housing?
I got an engine from a gokart that says 4 hp on the recoil but when I took off the head it had the number 13 on it. The piston is bigger than a newer 5 hp briggs piston I had. I am wondering if this is a 5 or a 4 hp briggs .The "4" hp briggs also has problems with the recoil when I pull it...
I just got back from my local Briggs parts supplier. Im suffering from sticker shock. While I was happy to actually find a knowledgeable parts man, he wasn't able to help much. He told me that briggs n stratton was trying to phase out the old flat heads, discontinuing many parts and over pricing...
Does anyone have a list of torque requirements for stock Briggs rod cap, side cover, head and other various parts? I believe the 3HP is 110 inch pounds for the rod cap and side cover and 165 inch pounds for the head but what about the 5HP and the 8HP?
Has anyone ever attempted to turn a 4 cycle Briggs into a 2 cycle? I am curious as to what would happen if one were to attempt to add two more lobes on the camshaft. (Directly opposite of the existing ones)
I wonder what such a contraption would sound like.
Has anybody ever used a 6.5hp clone or GX200 carb on a 5hp Briggs? My buddy and I were hanging out in the shop talking the other night and he asked me because he was thinking about trying it.
Lets say i have the means and desire to craft an intake for 2 tillys, what tillys would you use and could they be mounted in any rotation(ie. upside down)
i would think this would work best with 2 gas tillys running alcohol
not saying this would work any better than 1 good tilly.
Hey whats the deal my briggs 3.5 hp briggs motor and my 5 hp briggs take alot of the same parts. Even my 5hp piston slides into the 3.5 head with no issues.
Is it the head and the length of the piston stroke that makes the difference? Longer Rod ?
Crank ?
been talking about supercharging a flathead Briggs. The only one I have in the barn is a 4 horse with a 6:1 gear reduction box on it. Where can I get a crank with 3/4 inch shaft for this project?
Hey Fellas, I'm looking to paint a 5hp Briggs for a Powell. Do you know if Duplicolor or another brand carries a copper color in a high heat spray can?
The guy said its from an old washing machine. I love the kick start,it spins and has spark.I cant find a model number. Any idea what I have? I thought it would be cool to find a Doodlebug frame or a look a like and use it.Thanks
So I'm working on the motor for Tetanus Shot. It's a newer 3.5 Briggs with a bearing crank. This style seems to have an open chamber style head?? Has anyone tried to use an earlier head? Maybe they are the same and it's an optical illusion? I guess pics would help but I do no have an early head...
Is there any major differences between a 6hp briggs and a 5hp briggs? Will all the performance parts for a 5hp briggs work on a 6hp briggs?
I have been looking for a 5hp briggs to SLOOOOOWLY start building one but have had absolutely no luck. I came across a 6hp that was once on a wood...
I know there's a similar thread about 4hp vs 5hp motors, but I have a different question and didn't want to hijack his. I'm restoring a bike that originally came with a 4 horse, and I have a good running 5 horse sitting in the garage. How do these motors differ in appearance? Anything really...
3.5hp Briggs-Stratton Engine Industrial Plus 93432-0192 | eBay
Seems well priced and has the right shaft. Take that silly gas tank and all that other crunk plastic and I think it would look good with an external tank set up??
Any experience/thoughts on this engine?
this old mower was in the barn for years and was finally dragged out to be junked. i thought id snag what parts i could however i found the engine has awesome spark! the tank is suprisingly clean inside and all of the carb parts are very free. I also found the drive setup very interesting and...
Does anybody have any pictures or even a how-to on how I could make a homemade kick start that would work on a 3hp Briggs & Stratton? I would prefer if this kick start still used the original shroud.
