Has anyone experimented with omitting one of the two compression rings on the old aluminum bore flatheads?
Im just kicking around the idea, to see what happens to bore life.
I have disassembled quite a few of these old engines, and noticed the vast amount of carbon build up usually stops at...
I have a black mamba cam and newly installed in my honda 160 . When i got it i noticed that the release was different than the one on the stock honda cam , so i figured that it was a clone core that was used . But i seem to have a problem of it not completely turning itself off or slightly...
I have a fully built clone just replaced fuel pump because the other one had a leak. Used to start in a few pulls, pull started it right after its compression stroke and now it doesnt start at all, but has compression and spark. I pull start it right after its compression stroke to just right...
I have an older 1970's-ish Sears 3000 watt generator that I used during the course of hurricane Sandy to keep a refrigerator going. Ran great the entire time but after the final day of use, I noticed that the engine seemed to have a bit more compression than normal. Never had this problem on an...
so i take the motor off my bike to put the worked head and roller rockers on it and after the install there is NOOO compression and the bike will not start so i buy a copper head gasket for it and still the same shit...then i thaught the head might be screwed up and thru the stock head back on...
Hello all I would like to ask you guys what the best way to get compression cheaply and easily? I'm justo looking for more power thru out the powerband and heard compression is great for that. Also, will I notice a difference from a shaved head gasket? What about a gx200 bored carb compared to a...
ok im a pretty smart guy, so i tend to over think. but i have a 5 hp briggs and a 6 hp tec. i want to do a lil work just to make the motor more peppy for my mini bike. my question is when you remove the eyebroms you lower compression for better flow. but i feel more compression is better so i...
Ok so I bought a brand new Honda gx160 and figured out the shaft was too short for my minibike. I got it all opened up and swaped the shaft for my Jiang Dong clone shaft that was longer. I also swaped the flywheel from the clone into the Honda because the clones flywheel could power the...
Here's what I don't get...
I know the compression release holds the exhaust valve open at low speed to make starting easier. But, the recommended valve lash is .005. With .005 clearance, how can the cam hold the valve open?
I have a 5hp briggs and stratton engine that i have in my mini chopper that has been giving me some problems. When i ride it in high rpms (4900-5200) the motor skips a spark. also it takes a while to reach high rpms with my 6 to 1 ratio and 16 inch tire. i tested the compression and the highest...
is there more compression when you seal the low oil sensor hole? After I sealed it up the pullstart is starting to kick back, starts up real nice though in like half a pull lol
Put in new ring and piston. Compression is at 65lbs holding.
Checked and rings were placed correctly. With proper gap.
I replaced the valve springs. My old springs were different heights and the motor specs call for different springs.
Comp cams sent me the same spring for each valve. ?
The...
I have a mini baja 5.5 clone but I can't get it to start. I removed the govener but after that it wouldn't crank. The 2 marks on the gears for the timing are lined up right but I still have no compression. No air coming out of the exhaust or going into the carb when I try to crank it. It's got...
I did a compression test on my newly purchased $130 1979 Honda z50r and got a reading of 95 psi. Would this be considered slightly on the low side or in the ballpark? I had read somewhere that on most motorcycles a minimum reading of 100 psi is required or don't even waste your time trying to...
I know that the hf 6.5 is on sale for $99 right now so i'm getting a second one to have some fun. I am already currently building one and going in the higher displacement and higher compression direction. With this new one i was thinking of some other things and wanted to know a few things...
does anyone know what the compression height is before and after machining a piston into a flat top?
edit: and also is there a longer rod to compensate for that?
Took it all apart and all seems fine. Piston and rings appear normal. No scoring, just low compression.
What is the spec normal compression on this motor? 130202 model.
I just check the compression on the X90 and it was 120 lbs. That seems a little low to me. Does anyone know what it should be?
Also, the bike shifts fine but it does not center itself. I have to use my foot and gentally center it.
It seems to me that these 2 things would mean that I'm...
Got spark, stuck my pinky in the sparkplug hole. Isn't it suppose to push my finger out?
I feel a little bit of air blowing out but not 60 to 80lbs of pressure like the lawn mower shop said.
I dropped a few drops of gas into the spark plug hole. Tried to pull start it and flames shot...
