Hello Folks,
I am not finding the original carburetor that my hs40 had on it before someone replaced it with a 'bulb' primer model....:doah:
I see all sorts of stuff out there available for hs40's, I just don't know how to determine which would be best for mini bike application.
What is the...

I have 1970 HS40 Tecumseh Model # HS40-552760 Serial# 0303 02812 engine for sale. This is a good candidate for a restoration it turns freely and has good compression. $100 plus shipping.
The engine stalls when giving it more throttle. The new points were gapped at .020 on the high side of the cam and cleaned before starting, the piston was set at .035 btdc with a dial indicator, a electronic meter set on ohms was used while moving the stator plate to see the break in continuity...

I read the Tecumseh HS40 motor takes 21 ounces of straight 30 oil. (My motor is an 80's model)
I have it mounted on a slant on my FOX Spoke Wheel mini bike.
I poured in 21 ounces of oil & the dip stick has it above the safe line. (While slanted)
the oil is pretty close to the fill hole, so...
I am restoring a 1970 Rupp Roadster with the HS40 engine. Of course, the engine was shot as well as the crankshaft was not correct. I found another HS40 - 55388C so must be a newer engine but this crank is not very good. What item number should the crankshaft be for this HS40-55388C so I can...
Very nice 1968 HS40 with the lighting coil. With original clutch.
Factory 5/8th, keyed, non-tapped shaft
This is an original unrestored engine with new paint and decals. Was completely stripped to bare metal and repainted about 2 years ago. Has not been run since. Excellent compression...
Tecumseh HS-40 Lighted Coil (1970) - original MX1310 engine. Original paint (except air filter canister), new housing and air cleaner decals, great compression and spark, runs clean, carb bowl needle and drain gaskets need replacing and carb likely adjusted. Looks to be never taken apart...
I'm painting the engine on my 75 Rupp Roadster2. In is a lighted HS40.
I don't have any cooling fan on the flywheel. I'm assuming there is supposed to be one.
I checked parts tree for my model, HS40-55388E Ser-5121B, but of course the illustration is for a non lighted engine.
What does the...
Itchin to do up some motors (been awhile now)so i picked up these two today. Lovin the lil H25 as it looks barely used after I started wiping all the crud off it. Hopefully i get some time tomorrow and pop the head off.
H25 is H25 25196H 1972 and the other is HS40 55459E 1975.
Does anyone know (of course most of you do) what the stock crankshaft length should be for a HS40 used on a 1970 Rupp Roadster? I assume it is ~2 1/4 inch, clutch side.
Also, is the stock bore on a HS40 2.62 inch?
Thank you.
Said, I would never sell this, So get me before I change my mind
