Thanks for posting I enjoyed the article and pictures. It was particularly interesting because as it turns out this car is nearly identical to mine and came off the same assembly line 9 days later. Here's a couple pictures of my 68 it's a 390gt 4spd with deluxe interior like bullet only its blue. I found it in Atwater Ca in 1988.
Nice!

$3,400,000
Plus commission, taxes, whatever...
10 percent buyers premium on top of that. $3,740,000

And 10 percent sellers premium off the top of that. $3,060,000

Mecum made a cool $680,000 on this sale alone.

And sadly it wont bring anywhere near that again. The bloom is off that rose. All the Chrysler Hemi cars are a perfect example. They were 7 figure cars but they are low 6 figure cars now. The first 23 window VW Samba Bus that ever appeared at Barret Jackson brought $1,000,000 but the same buses have not come close since.

Best part of that scene (IMHO) when the Charger took off from the light, that 440 exhaust sounded so bad ass! I had the pleasure of riding around in a neighbors '69 Charger R/T back in the day. Most 396 - 427 Chevys were no match and none of the Fords were even close against it on Gratiot Ave.
