I just bought this frame cheap on eBay, BIN, should have it in a week or two. It was listed as model unknown. I checked the seller's other items and he had a Rupp rectangular headlight but no fork, shocks, wheels or tank, his having the headlight makes me think the frame may be that of a Roadster, though. Some searching came up with photos of a couple of yellow roadsters that were described as being 1968 models. I can't tell for sure from the photos if the yellow paint is original but think it likely is. I'm more of a modification guy than a restoration type, but if I determine it was originally yellow, I may be inclined to repaint it yellow. I intend to use a Monster Moto (gasp!) suspension fork (I may sand off the large cast-in MM logo) and aftermarket shocks. I already have a NIB MM fork so I can't see paying big money for a flimsier Rupp fork. I may stretch and reinforce (bridge) the swingarm, I doubt I would modify the frame but you never know. This style Rupp is one of my favorite frame designs so I wouldn't want to change the appearance of it much. An original Rupp fuel tank would be nice but I know a nice one would be very expensive. Since it's only a frame and swingarm, I won't feel guilty about modifications or using non-original type engine, suspension, wheels, brake, etc. It will be a future project, no time for it now, but was too cheap to pass up. So, even though I don't intend to do a proper restoration, I am curious about the model and year, I'd like to know what it was in its former glory. Right now, I'm just guessing and would like to hear from the experts. Any info is appreciated.
