1972 HS40 mod 55445C ser 2147B Fully rebuilt (for real, not just lap worn parts back together!)
ID tag matches the setup (slanted application) and is correct right down to the dipstick!
4 angle valve recut to seats, refaced original thick stem exhaust valve, NOS oversized intake valve fitted all set with tight lash specs
Head, deck, intake, and carb flanges surface trued for tight, straight fit.
NOS camshaft and tappets from an Parted down SBH (short block horizontal) donor engine used
Excellent shape 3/4" standard length PTO crankshaft, micro polished journals and in spec
Cylinder checked for out of round and wear, deglazing hone, stock rings @ .015" max on fresh piston
new connecting rod
new governor shaft and clamp
factory slanted intake (not repro)
OEM HS40 correct sized carburetor fitted with very hard to source correct recreational/mini bike use factory choke lever and new oem air flter element
new points condenser, plug fitted to cleaned and serviced magneto assembly on clean flywheel, lapped, mated and properly torqued to crankshaft
recoil handle and rope on serviced original recoil assembly.
New gaskets. seals, headbolts, etc...
Paint is single stage Urethane automotive paint (mix and spray) finished with waterslide decals
This engine was built from my parts bins to match the ID tag and is setup correctly, even the late 71-74 throttle control
Test run/broken in and ready to install, Oil has been drained, fuel bowl was dropped and cleaned ready for transport/shipping.

I also have full shots of the carburetor build available (which was pretty extensive actually)

During assembly (only exception is I decided to to dig out a New shortblock engine take off BCR camshaft and lifters to use) and forgot to photo it as I decided to stay completely true to the model number setup:

I’ve had at least three motors sent to me in recent months thst were purchased as newly rebuilt motors with fresh paint etc…they won’t run….when taken apart I found 1/16th carbon on top of the “new” piston….valves were stuck in the guides…had the original points and condenser too….$700 motor it was….but it was painted nice….
