1973 Harley X90

#1
I'm new here.

I had a post in "what is it" cause I couldn't find the serial number. I since found the number and it's 2D 18429 H3, so now I know that it's a 1973 X90.

I've had the Little Harley for about 20+ years and was trying to decide what to do with it. I was searching the internet and came across this web site and saw the beautiful restorations of the X90's. The mini bike is in nice shape and does run. It is missing a front break lever and cable but the rest is all there.

The bike was advertised in the local news paper and the owner wanted $250.00 for it. I looked at it and there were others looking at it also but I didn't buy it. I cut out the ad and about a month later I ran across the ad again and called on it. The guy asked me if I had looked at the bike and I said that I did and he then said make me an offer, so I said $50.00. And that's how I got the bike.

The bike is pretty dirty now so my first order of things to do is to take a few things apart and do a good clearing and see what I have to work with.

I have uploaded some pictures of it. Any comments would be appreciated as to were to start.

Thanks Tom

The bike looks fairly decent and complete. Does it have a clean title?
1st - What do you plan to do with the bike, ie. ride it, restore it, sell it, etc.? Once you figure out the answer then you can decide what to do with the bike. They are definately fun to ride and worth restoring. Be advised, if you decide to restore it to original, this is not a minibike restoration. It an antique motorcycle restoration, the parts are just smaller. Parts are hard to find and just as expensive as a full size antique motorcycle.
Do you have a parts book and a repair manual for the bike? If not, you will definately need both books.
If you have any questions, just post up. :scooter:

Hey Tom,
Nice little find you have there. You know, I have read your posting 3 times and never looked at where you are from. I live in Chanhassen and myself found a bike out on CL that I obtained. I am currently restoring mine and the one I bought wasn't quite as rough as the one you have but it did need work. Oh, and it wasn't as cheap as yours either. HA. I looked at your pics--looks like a fun project. Mine is currently getting the zinc plating done that it needed and this weekend I will hopefully go see the painter to get the black parts done. I also have obtained all the parts that were either broken or missing. Would be cool to hear how your project is going.
