What kind of 2 cycle engines are still made for the 3 wheelers? Like the 292 Yamaha or any other engines like them to use on 3 wheeler? Or where to find one that would work? The biggest small engine I have now is a 10HP 4 cycle Tecumseh electric start so I can power lights. I want it for my Tri-Rod the only engines I can find are 4 cycle and only go up to 15HP with electric start. I do not want to go with a small 340 twin snowmobile engine I would like to stay with a single cylinder. I would like to find out what engines were used on the Tri-Rods they used 4 different sizes? I know that they made a windshield and a roll bar and ski for them I have the chrome roll bar and ski for mine. I just would like to know how big they went on the engines and what kind? Thanks!

I don't know what Tri-Rod used.

The older 2 cycle Rotax 340 with HD carb puts out over 28hp

They have lighting coil and optional electric start.

Many use this engine in 1cyl snowmobile racing today.

The 340 Rotax single with the HD carb is around 28 hp and will cost around 300.00 and did not come with electric start but it can be added , the same basic engine with the HR carb is 18 to 20 hp and can be found pretty easy for 100.00 or less and many came with electric start.

If you wanted something a little newer the 277 Rotax would be a good choice I would guess mid 20s for hp also the 250cc Yamaha mid 20s for HP Rotax and probably others still make Ultra light airplane motors but they are not cheap.

Eh just get a honda atc/trx 250r motor. Single cylinder, 36HP stock watercooled. Or and older (pre 1985) aircooled which put out about the same as that rotax. Tons of upgrades for both watercooled and aircooled engines
