I couldn't locate my leftover 3/8 round stock. So I used a scrap push mower bag frame to make the back stop. Worked out perfectly, already had the bends in it too. Welded it in place and that's it I'm putting a pin in the welding on the rack. Now on to painting.

@Harquebus I did whip in the grinder on a couple welds on the back stop. They were just too ugly and too in my face, even for me. Haha

@sparkwizard now that the welding is done. I'll get final weight on the rack. I know that was a concern of yours early on in the project.

Yeah, that's looking great !
@RobertC thank you very much. I'm really pleased with how it has turned out. After paint I'm going to call it done for now. After the camping trip next month I'll try to pick back up on building the front rack.

I did fired up the bike and did a rip down the driveway last night. The carb is leaking gas for some reason. I'll have to look into that. It shouldn't have been. But I'll get it sorted out.

Got the cargo rack painted. I'll give some time to cure before bolting it back on the bike. Solved the leaky carb. The bowl gasket had shrunk a little and must have got pinched last time I had the bowl off. Put a new higher quality gasket on and it sealed it right back up. Should be all set to use it on the camping trip this year. It's going to be sweet.

As promised some better pictures of the rack and welds in the daylight. I knew paint would help the overall appearance, but it really made a difference. Makes the amateur welds look more consistent. Some still look like hammered... uhm well you know. But overall I'm very pleased. This is the best it will look probably ever again. I'm sure the camping trip will give its first scrapes. But it will be worth it for the utility.
