3hp briggs hard to start and shuts off intermittently

i have a 3hp briggs that has less then 5 hours on the motor. Motor sat for about 10 years since the last time it ran. I took the complete motor aparts cleaned the carb, tank and put new plug oil and gaskets on it. The first time I fired it up it ran and idled great. I went back a week later and the thing was hard to start, I had to pour a little gas in the carb to prime it. It would then fire but would die once the primer gas was gone. I took the tank off again and found some dirt in the tank. PUt it all back together and same issue.
Any tips or does it sound like its just needs another carb cleaning

Did you put a new diaphram in the carb? That's what it sounds like to me.:thumbsup:

might be the diaphram try using carb and choke cleaner and see if that helps?

also check if the pickup tube screen is clear and not clogged.
