Hey guys.....this isn't from a Mini Bike, but I have a question about the carburetor on my 1982 B&S 8 hp engine. I just soaked it 24 hrs in carb solution and cleaned thoroughly and installed the new parts. The B&S kit didn't come with actual instructions showing exactly how things went but rather a note card with a couple of tips on there about the float and such.
My question is that I didn't notice during tear down if it had a small rubber "seat" in the carburetor. The new kit came with one (a generic kit I guess cause it came with 2 sizes of needles and gaskets) that is green in color. I did install that small rubber seat with groove down, but when I installed the needle with the float attached, the hinge pin didn't seem to want to go together. It would have been a tight fit under pressure. Because of that I removed the small rubber seat and didn't use it. Does this carb use one and if so did I have it in the correct place??
Question 2: We started the mower on 2 pulls of the rope and the started and ran. 1st pull choke, 2nd pull running at half throttle. The engine didn't run that great but it wasn't terrible. It was smoking pretty bad you could really smell it! I didn't adjust the lower bowl adjustment (thinking it was pre-set). I did adjust the top adjustment to 3 turns out from seated. What do you think is the issue? What are the factory adjustment settings?
