A New Lathe, (last toy for a while!)

#22
surgery complete. no issues.

a large size friend is coming over monday to move the desk and cold saw. the lathe base is 3/16" sheet steel, the chip tray is .057" (16ga) sheet steel. i would rather have a cast iron base but they are not available for this size lathe. we are going to pick the lathe with a fork lift or engine hoist to place it on the base. more pics tomorrow.

took the first cut today on the new lathe. cut a 16 tpi scratch pass on a 5/8" piece of stressproof. it is so nice having the quick change threading gears instead of changing sprockets and belts. the cutting bit was a 3/8" piece of M42 hss hand ground and then finished on the d bit grinder.

:D
first chips!
