Yeah for sure, in the rust belt they disappeared decades ago. This one was found in Denver. I've been in this business since the late 70's and my only experience with these is every one I ever saw or worked on was always very rusty. This one didn't look bad but needed some serious work. Nasty rust and old hacked collison repair.

I had a 76 280z in about 1984 -1987 ,it was not rusty but it came from BC ,I spent a ton of money buying special parts from Bob Sharp Racing who had a great history with z cars ,Hemi head ,Porsche fuel injection pieces ,Koni suspension ,recaro seats ,exhaust ,real Carrol Shelby pin drive wheels ,and Firestone police pursuit tires which were hard to get around here at the time .Its common for the paint to crack near your quarter panel seams above the quarter windows (sorry I don’t remember exactly the spot but right in that general area ) so make sure you finish that area good and strong (actually google should show it and possible fixes ,it was very common ) .They are really tough on the chin spoiler as you couldn’t judge the front of that car very well .It would easily cruise @ 160mph in 5th ,but would get really quick if you dropped the hammer . Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories .I sold mine to my brother when I was in the army ,he sold it a year or so later and a year after that the police called him to get it out of impound ,I guess the new owner never registered it ,and we were too honest to go get it back ourselves . There was also a body kit from Joe Alphabet in the 80’s to turn it into a Ferrari Daytona look alike ,they used one on the Miami Vice TV show .

I thought they all rusted away in the nineties. Nice little car!
Those are fun little cars
I had one in the '90s with NO rust, however.....
Previous owner was a kid I went to HS with. He pissed off his girlfriend at the time, and she trashed the car. Smashed all the windows, tail lights, jumped on the roof, hood, and kicked in all the body panels, and to finish it all off dumped about three gallons of puke green paint all over, and inside the car. Everything was destroyed except the drivetrain. Like a moron, I ended up completely rebuilding it with junkyard parts, then promptly sold it to fund another project.

Back in the very early 70s, two friends of mine (yes, I actually had friends once) had resoectively a 67 396 Camaro and silver 240Z. I was not present but they were driving back from Zuma beach on PCH, side by side. Well of course they both stomped on it. The Camaro guy kept looking for the 240 to appear in the rearview mirror. After a bit, he looked in the side view only to see the 240 pacing him. From hiway speed it was a draw, much to Camaro's chagrin.

I just googled Bob Sharp to see what’s going on ,and unfortunately he passed away just last week on the 25 of February .I also found out that he got Paul Newman started in his racing career in the early 70’s .
