Are swing-arm rear engine mount suspensions a bad idea on trikes?

#1
I'm thinking of making a swing arm rear suspension mount for my Alsport TS-130 and after chewing on it I'm wondering if it might not be such a good idea on the trike-type frame. After looking at the Trisports and other models with that funky independent rear differential shock mount system I'm wondering if the reason all those manufacturers when with that and not a swing arm rear suspension is if you hit a serious rock or hole on one side that side only will go up or down-not the whole axle. Seems the swing-arm suspension would have been easier to manufacture but the independent system reduces roll-overs better? Any thoughts on swing-arm rear suspensions on trikes?
