B&S 3HP (80202) Engine for a Taco 22

Still looking for a 80202 for my 1967 Taco 22 project. I have a nice 80202 but it doesn't have the correct date code (67) which brings me to my question. Was it always the case the engine date matched the frame serial number date? Could a 1967 Taco 22 had a 66 80202 installed at the time of delivery?

JTG, thanks for the suggestion. I sent Taco Bill a PM but I'm thinking it may be awhile before I get a response, according to his activity monitor Taco Bill hasn't visited the site since May 2017.

Here is a 1966 recoil shroud that would be period correct for your 1967 Taco bike. It appears to be complete and not in bad condition:

You could clean it up and repaint it.

This is your answer, any engine can be used with the date code correct shroud so a low hours engine would work well.
