Bonanza Chopper Orange

I’ve seen some killer restorations of these Cool Choppers here on Old Minibikes. My old Friend and OldMiniBikes Member Shovelhead is ready to lay some color down on mine. So what’s the closest color to original orange? Thanks

You should search that on the forum. I know that has been talked about a few times. Maybe Hemi orange??? I can't remember.

I did search and I found Markus’ old post saying he used 1969 Camaro Orange. Thanks for the suggestion Karen and your seat will be the Icing on the Cake!

That's the color I would use when i painted those frames.

Yea that is the color I used, at the suggestion of some of the Cali guys. I just gave the paint store the GM color code, which actually used different names, I think the label printed out carousel red.....I used single stage urethane, mix and spray:

I got a Tecumseh HS40 For this one. I do have The Hodaka Motor mounts and an E Code set of cases for the other one.

My Old Friend Shovelhead came thru again and sprayed some nice color on the Dave Miller Chopper frame. Got a Show Chrome DMC front end and the sissy bar is getting chromed. Also got a set of kidney beans getting Burnished. I’ve been using Dougco in Oakland. This ones gonna shine! Lol.

DMC called it Bell Orange, as like the helmet company. OEM paint was single stage and aircraft (70's) grade with chemicals banned today. He gave me a dip stick of color to match. Your close if not spot on with what I see. I could post the color mix if anyone wants, but its on wood not steel so could be slightly off. "Bell Orange" .

I was lucky to buy the last one sold on EBay last year. I saw an interview with Dave Miller where he said he would polish all the parts before sending them out to Chrome.

So I’m slowly chugging away on this Chopper. I had some parts plated last week. The chrome springs was an afterthought but for a case of Heinekens, the price was right. The tank had the dings lead filled before plating. Sam burnished the wheels and I’m using Carlisle Indian heads with universal tread. I can’t forget the nice seat done by our very own Karen! We’re experiencing day 5 of a record breaking heat wave in the Bay Area 116 degrees was the record high. Here’s a few pics.
