Bonanza fork disassembly

I have two bonanza BC's.. Last week I took one fork apart and the struggle to pull the springs out wasn't too bad..

Today I went to dissemble the second..wtf... For the life of me, I can't get the springs out of fork.

The top portion is seized in the frame tube. Bolts came out easy, springs spin easily, lower section nice and free . Its that last couple inches that is stuck...sprayed a ton of penetration oil in the tubes while upside down hopefully to free them up.

What is the trick?

Twist…..may have to replace once out

Heat up the fork tube where the slug is bolted you can quench the area with wd40 that might help as well

Common problem. Been there a few times. PB blaster, heat, PB blaster, let it soak.

Well I'm back on it Friday, I had it cherry red toady and it didn't move. Hope another day of soaking works. Think I might have to split the tube?

The plug is at thst bolt hole….try placing something, I’d use a Phillips screwdriver, and try to tap that slug one way then the other….if you break it free it should slide out….but don’t split the tubes….pop the spring off and twist another on…

What skipp said. I used a punch and got that slug moving. Let it soak. I have had a few buggers.

Well I finally had the time to fude areoud with this yesterday.

Soaked it over week...
Heated it, punched it twisted it...

None of it worked..

I ended up taking a hunk of 3/16 solid rod..grease it up a bit and hammered it thru the handle bar opening at the grip....slick as crap. Both springs out in two min....

Awesome. I have done that also. Lol. Another trick is filling the handle bars with ball bearings and give it a wack.
