Bonanza Slop Problem

#1
I have a Bonanza BC1100 and have noticed alot of slop in the steer tube area in the front end. Its tight but it has alot of back to front slop. Does anyone else have this problem?

I also have a problem with the front suspension. The springs dont move and i have tried to take them out of the fork. They wont budge no matter what I do. Is there a trick to getting these things out?

Also check the 5/8 hole in the top plate, sometimes that hole gets wollered out.

As far as the springs go. I attached a picture of what the assembly looks like. First you need to take the 2 bolts in the upper fork that hold the assembly in. Thegently twist a little to see if they are free. Sometimes they get rusted in place. If that's the case flip the fork upside down and put penetating fluid in them and let them sit. If that doesn't work after a while, heat the area where the retainers are and see if that breaks the rust bond. If that doesn't work, there is one more trick but it involves drilling a hole in the handle bar just above the bend so you can drive them out.

what eviled and i have done is use some long flat stock like 8th inch or less x 1/2 inch or less or just use some round rod and insert it at the end of the handle bars. just make sure its flexable enough to bend around the inside of the bars and start hammering, only after trying penetrating oil and heat. good luck.

the bottom bushing is bad. possible ovaled hole in the forks too. Forks are BC1100 powder coated a medium blue? did powder coat get in the area that slides up and down? yes, plus rust, so pour penetrating oil down the top on both sides. let set a day run an axel through it with a long spacer between tighten it a bit support the forks smack the center of the axel til it brakes loose. not all the way just loose or you might brake the springs. then do the other methods that are mentioned. for the top piece. the pieces the bolt goes through. good luck. hope you got help. not going to be easy for 1 guy. the axel will be ruined so use a junk one. did you get the front wheel off yet? if not you will have to let the air out pop the tire loose then un bolt the two halfs, dont scratch them, lol Forgot to mention why not just leave the forks ridged with the penetrating oil in them they may just work them selfs free. but I hope the spring arnt broken. if they are nothing will be holding the legs on.
