Brake pads for manco kart scrub brakes

My kart has scrub brakes, the braking is a little better thanks to the slicks instead of carlisles but they are still very noisy

If I make some brake pads out of an old tire or tube and glue them onto the metal surface of the scrub will they last or just peel right off?

Also will this help or harm the actual braking power?

Here's a pic of the brakes to give you an idea of what I am working with

Well, Metal on rubber wears the tire down faster, so rubber on rubber should work pretty well. I say Go for it, and the worst that could happen is they peel off.

pfast.
Put on a disc brake set up. You have a very nice kart there and its worth the investment and upgrade. Plus im sure that when your foot is on the brake pedal during an emergency you'll want stop immediately if not sooner.
