Briggs and Stratton vs Oregon Carb rebuild kits?

Just picked up vintage briggs and Stratton 5 hp flathead motor. Motor runs good but original carb not so much. What should I get Briggs or Oregon carb rebuild kit. Briggs kit is 2x the cost of the Oregon kit. I am assuming both kits, parts are made in China. I have a vintage Porsche that recently needed a new water pump. Genuine Porsche pump is $800, aftermarket pump cost me $349. Come to find out pumps are 100 percent the same, made in Germany by same manufacturer, brand, same quality and specs. Does this same situation apply to these two carb rebuild kits?

I can't answer your question about the quality or price of those carb kits. I am, however, confused about why you want to rebuild a carb on an engine that "runs good".

What is "push area on the side of carb"? It should have a small plate on the left side (muffler side) with 4 small bolts holding it on. That is the fuel pump. There is a spring and a gasket/ diaphragm behind that plate. It is very common for that diaphragm to fail after long storage.
That is a great carb. It pumps fuel from the tank up into a small bowl inside the tank, just below the carb. The carb draws fuel from that small bowl. When the diaphragm fails, the carb can't pick up any fuel. Replace the diaphragm first. It can be done without removing the carb. Removing the tank and carb can become a painful chore. If you decide to remove it, be aware of the small spring between the tank and the engine block. It is critically important.
