Briggs flathead valve removal probs

im trying to take the valves off my build briggs raptor3 5hp motor ...the bottom of the valves look like they have a c clip holding them on to a aluminum retainer how could i remove then is there a special tool my valves need lapping bad

Google "Briggs Valve Spring Compressor Tool" (Briggs part # 19063). You can shop around on EBay and get one for a very reasonable price- :deal:WELL WORTH THE $$$!!! Been there, done, that with screwdrivers and pliers:eek:ut: long ago- NEVER EVER AGAIN.
