Yep i did it again. As some of you may know i broke my left collarbone exactly a month ago. Well it broke the same one again. I was out on the dirt bike herding sheep and one broke off from the group and went down into a dry creek bed. So i got off the bike and went down into the creek to get the sheep out. I got it out and was walking up to the other side of the creek and it turned on me and headbutted my legs from underneath me and i fell shoulder first back into the creek-bed which was pretty deep and i heard and felt it snap again. I was like o f**k not again. I had to get back on the dirt bike and ride it back to the barn. It was just me and my bosses son out there working so he had to drive me to the other part of the ranch which is 5 miles down highway 1 (he's 15 btw). So we get to the other part of the ranch were my bosses daughter was working. Shes the same age as me so she drove me to the ER which was about 50 minutes away. Long story short i got to the ER they popped me 3 Vicodin put me in a weird brace which holds my shoulders back and told me to leave. It was a way worse of a break than before. If i didnt have all of the growth and calcification from the previous break it would of pierced my skin. So i have a DR. appt on friday and they will decide then if i need surgery. These last 2 months havent been my best.

man i am so sorry to hear that. was the break the last time repaired sugically with plates and or pins? or did they just align it and sling it? i hope you have a good doc because it it sounds like your going to need one. you'll heal quick because your young but i promise you your gonna feel it when you get older. sounds like a hell of a long wait to see a doc with the type of break you have? it can cause permanent damage to nerves etc. if you move the wrong way . i hope you take it easy till you get to the doc.

Ouch...That has to really hurt being the same bone. Man o man. The waiting is the hardest part though isnt it? When I woke up the first time..... before they put the tube in my throat......... I apparently snapped out of a dead silence and said.........When in the hell did we get ice cream!!........./ Thats when they knew I was nutty and shoved crap down my throat and a catheder up my wiener....................Holy shit........... that shit hurt.

Im just kidding by the way................................ Didnt hurt me until the hot ass nurse yanked it out.............. Me and that bitch were a number until then.

The first break healed by itself no surgery and they didnt need to set it. And ya it was like 2.5 hours after i broke it that i actually got seen by a Doctor.

You have the bones of a 90 year old man!
Better start drinking more milk!

If I was your employer I wrap you in a pillow or bubble wrap to go out to work!

That's too bad. But you're young and should heal quickly. Get well soon! I've had a brace like that (crap, they oughtta just give you one when you buy your first motorcycle). I dunno if they really do anything except distract you a bit from the pain. Here's a pick from my buddy's emergency room trip right before X-Mas. No brace for him - he got plates and screws, and maybe a hinge.

Hello Bryan : Well of all the bad luck to have the same one brake again. A broken bone should heal stronger that before if given a better chance of healing time.

I broke my collar bone back when i was 20, yeah it sucked bad! Racing BMX and crashed and my collar bone helped to break my fall....or maybe it was the other way around. I have been lucky for 14 years but here this last month it has been killing me! If i go to sleep and wake up on my right side I wake up almost in tears it hurts so bad, if i set on the couch and turn just a little to see the TV better where i have more pressure on my right back shoulder it starts aching and hurting bad. Never in a million years would i have thought a fractured collar bone would come back to haunt me 14 years later, my wife thinks i am nuts......I mean i am kinda but it really does hurt. I think it might have something to do with the cold weather, at least i hope thats what it is.

Hope you get to healing soon and believe me, when they say "Try not to use it for 6-8 weeks" they mean it!!!

You can have a open reduction internal fixation. Plates and screws. We do this routinely as I stated the last time you did this. That is the standard of care now a days. That is what you need.

My father had a car fall on him while working on the rear end and he had a broken collar bone. It was his last job before having to report back to active duty in the Navy the next day.
He was previously assigned to the U.S.S. Indianapolis and work in the Boiler room and as history went that ship was sunk in the Pacific with over 800 lives lost. So a broken collar bone kept my father at home and the war ended shortly after that.
So not many would have a positive story to tell about an injury but I do.
