Bt200x with predator 224 Pull chord pulls back

I did NOT set lashes at TDC at first (like I said, I'm new to this and have always learned from messing it up first) I didn't check/set them with spark plug out either. So I re did the whole process step by step alongside videos and found out where I went wrong. Got the lashes set to .003 correctly.
Next I went ahead and took carb off and loosened one screw that holds a ,I guess you would call it a top or cap on top of the on/off switch for the gas and choke, just enough so i could turn gas on and off with a pair of needle nose pliers. While doing that some gas came out of carb while holding it upside down (don't know if it was old gas or if it was even supposed to be in there). I cleaned the carb up which wasn't even dirty that I could tell.
I also took pull rope housing off again and apart this time and discovered that
1: one of the pawls that catches the flywheel cup had somehow came out from behind the spring that holds it back when rope isnt pulled so i corrected that.
2: after watching a video discovered that my rope was way to long and caused resistance. So I shortened it up to 3 feet. It was almost 5 foot.
After taking these steps I have not had problems starting.

I ran it for a good 30 minutes over to my sister's house without a problem except when I let off the gas all at once it acts like it wants to shut off of but it hasn't yet except once when I had to quickly break so I wouldn't hit my dog. I think that might be the low oil senser I keep hearing about.

I've found with my modded engines I get pullbacks much less frequently if I do the pull to start the engine on a compression stroke.
I have a pull start shaped scar (well, half the pull start) on my chest from the pull start handle on my drag engine hitting me. I was trying to start it on the lift and it got me. It felt like I got punched and it bled. That was still in the testing time with a fresh engine so all the kinks weren't worked out.
