Carburetor New, Carburater No Worky

#1
I installed a new carb on my doodlebug...set the idle to a decent rpm, screwed in the spring screw till it seated and backed it out 1 1/2 turns.

The dang thing will not start. It ran up and down the street, conked out and I could not get it restarted. Is this a common problem? Did not adjust the spring screw properly.

Note: Clutch is brand new, spark plug too.

If you have any advice, I, and everyone else will be grateful.:hammer:

Start with the basics. Fuel, air, & spark. I'd unscrew the side bowl plug and see if fuel runs out. If not then it could be a stuck needle or float. Or the in tank filter is clogged. Next up, spark. Pull the plug wire, put a #2 phillips screwdriver in the boot. Put the shaft near a head bolt, pull the starter. You should see a spark. Air would be things like the choke, throttle blade, or air filter stopped up.

If you still have issues post up what you've done so far and the results of fuel air and spark tests

I'll check if gas is getting through...from what I can see there is no fuel filter, unless its in the tank. I'll check the basics again and let you know..thanks for the answers..everyone!

Have you tried the choke? My choke sticker, like many others' carbs, is backwards. Just curious if the choke was on and it fouled out the plug. I know, I'm just throwing out ideas. Just curious.
