Cat frame repair

So I got a question for you guys. I picked up this basically free cat mini bike and its your typical hack job special lol. Someone hacked up the engine mount holes along with drilling other random holes for who knows what lol. Also I'm sure someone added those pegs at some point. My question is how would you guys go about fixing the holes? It's not gonna be a show bike or anything just kinda want to clean up the cosmetics before painting it. Could I weld and redrill the engine plate holes? I would like to avoid cutting out the engine plate if possible. I'm an amateur welder but I want to do it myself to keep it a budget build.

Weld'em up. You can back them with a brass or copper plate and build up till they are full. And the slotted ones only where its been bodged . Then take a file to it to clean up the slot. Dont weld the whole thing up and drill new thats not nessesary. It looks like they bolted on a tecumseh big block and had to offset it significantly to get the chain line up. Or they just had a clutch that could only bolt on with the sprocket outside. Who knows.

Thanks! I'm gonna get a piece of copper for backing and do what you said. And yeah who knows what they were trying to do lol, my Taco 44 was turned into a dirt bike when I got it smh. People did some wild stuff with some of these old mini bikes

I also have to make a seat frame setup, does anyone know the correct length shocks I need and the length of the seat rails to? Luckily it came with the correct star wheels but almost everything else is missing

A MAB825KTS would do a fabulous restoration with a 3/8 end mill inserted after the slots were welded up "IF" you have an extra $7000 laying around and would like to try it. It does appear quite a handy tool with the versatility on light gauge material such as that plate.

I think I did decent job not to be a welder! Not trying to build a perfect mini bike just want to make it a nice decent build

good thing is you can always change motors later... a brand new predator with a few little hop-ups is pretty nice, and easy to get a project going but does lack old nostalgic look. but at the end of the day. your the cool guy with a running minibike making your neighbors annoyed/jealous. lol
