Check out my dad's bonanza

My dad has had this thing since before I was around (I'm 27). I just got into mini bikes about a year ago so we pulled it out and tore into it! I introduced him to the clone world and we built this motor together. We still have some work to do but this is where we are at so far... What do you think?

Ya, I got him back into go karts this year too. He used to race karts before I was born. I just got into karts this year as well and now we are both racing competitively in our local club. He threw this motor on a spare kart frame we had and tried our hand at dirt oval racing. It was fun but we will stick to sprint racing on asphalt. Its been tons of fun. I will have to put up pictures of our karts and my other 3 mini bikes.

Heres a shot of my mini bike when I first put it together:

I have since added a tank like we put on my dad's bike, added a number plate, and rewelded some things. I take pictures of my bikes when I get home.

Those are some really nice looking carts, but are to expensive for me. Maybe next year I'll get one like that. Nice mini. Here is a couple of pictures of my go cart. :thumbsup: :biggrin:

Thats cool, its an azusa frame correct? Heres my old invader chassis that I've had since I was a kid. About a year ago my dad pulled it out of the shed and asked if I wanted it. I had totally forgotten about it and said heck ya! Thats what started all of this. Got the old briggs flathead that was on it running and had a blast! Moved up to a clone, then I ran into an old timer that had tons of cool stuff. He gave me this old emmick chassis to play around with:

After that it was all down hill and I got my dad and myself into an animal class here locally and havent looked back! Its been an awesome experience! I wish we could have done this a long time ago but maybe its better now that I'm an adult and we can both afford it!

ez: can you take a picture of your motor on your kart from straight back. I'm thinking about getting a pipe like yours for my mini bike but don't know if it will clear the rear frame tubing. Most of the pips like that I have seen kind of bend back slightly towards the center of the motor therefore putting my rear frame right in its way. Thats an ARC AKRA pipe right?

Jared, yes it's an Azusa go cart and yes it has a Arc Racing pipe on it. Here are those pictures that ya wanted. It doesn't say where you are from in your Location. Are you in Georgia? Nice go carts and mini. :thumbsup: :biggrin:

Hmm, they must have changed their design because the one on their website angles back in towards the motor just a bit. Yours looks to be straight back or mayble even slightly angled out, which is what i need...

Hey Jared, your in the Go Cart racing industry, I'm sure that there are plenty of them laying around in some guys Trailer at the Races. If ya ask them Nicely, I'm sure that they will be able to help ya out with one. I could get rid of mine, but I'd rather not. Oh, if ya look at my last picture of my go cart and look on the back of the seat, you will see that my plate has worn a nice hole in there. I need to make some kind of brackets to keep that fiberglass seat from moving back. If I don't then that plate will eventually put a hole thru my seat. I hope ya find one of those header mufflers, but I'm sure that you will. :thumbsup: :biggrin:

EZ: Theres only one clone guy that comes around our club so no spare clone parts are floating around my area just yet. The closest track that runs clones is an hour away. I think my club will have a clone class next year though. Heres some pics of my (blue) bike in its current state and my wife's (black) bike...

Btw, the genuine honda on my wife's bike came from the neighbors trash. All it needed was a plug and it started first pull with the old gas that it still had in the tank!!!
