Clutch has 1/8" play along crankshaft

My new Max Torque (#35, 3/4") clutch has some play along the crankshaft of a new 6.5HP Lifan engine I just bought from HF. Has anyone seen this before? I guess I'll look for a washer/spacer to keep the clutch from slopping back and forth along the shaft.

Put a washer on the shaft, then use a good one to hold it on. Don't use side set screws on a tapped shaft, those are only for untapped shafts with no bolt.

if you need a spacer get a piece of 3/4 inch ID (inside diameter) rolled steel pipe and cut it to the length that you need.

Nice trick. You think I could cut through steel pipe with a hacksaw, or will it take something else?

yea you can cut it with a hack saw it will just take a minute and make sure to keep the blade lubricated. :hack: :thumbsup:

It will depend on your chain alignment where you space the clutch.
