Coleman 2.40 Sport Mini Bike 1971

#1
Unique Coleman 2.40 Sport Mini Bike, 1971 time frame. It was restored as a joint project by my late father, Jim Hosking, with Jeff Mihalko at Restoration Specialties.

From info provided to me by Jeff: The prototype bike was originally purchased from the builder who worked at the Coleman plant. Restoration was in 2005 to its original color and specs. Since then it had been stored indoors at my Dad’s shop, never outdoors. When he passed in 2018, it was moved into storage in Hyde Park, outside of Poughkeepsie, New York.

I’m looking for $2000 obo, local pick-up in Hyde Park only, please.

More tech specs provided to me by Restoration Specialties:
  • Engine replaced with a Briggs and Stratton Animal, 8 hp, attached to a Comet Torq-A-Verter system with a straight exhaust pipe and chrome tip
  • tube frame all factory welds, nothing was broken or bent, sandblasted and repainted
  • NOS gas tank, painted to match
  • NOS factory seat cover
  • NOS front and rear Fenders
  • original fuel shut off
  • custom made decals similar to originals of the factory production bikes
  • correct vintage hardware
  • wheels were replaced with Dixie Wheels date coded 1971 with original chrome
  • internal drum brakes, both hand operated levers
  • internal spring front shocks, front forks chromed
  • handlebars chromed
  • new rear shocks
  • new bearings and controls
Thanks
