Comet CVT Modification For Special Application

#1
This is my second CVT that I have purchased and will be using on my newest build "Custom Frame for Board Track Thumper". The drawback of the CVT is you have to off-set the motor to get the drive chain to line up, if you don't mount your motor just right the alignment will be off with no adjustment.

The modification moves the drive gear to the opposite side of the plate which allows you to center the motor and have adjustment for the correct alignment. The gear can slide back and forth with ease. I have had this idea for awhile and decided this build would be the perfect time to try it. Plus ya gota love the way a CVT works...

68, i am do something like that too with my snow bike. made my disc out of a sprocket that was for a #25chain. had to turn down the teeth and some of the hub area and then took a grade #8 5/8 bolt and cut a keyway into it for the disc and rear torque converter. still not sure if i will really need the disc brake because the snowtrack slows down the bike very quick, but it will still be nice to have it on for a back up.
only have couple pic's. haven't really been taking pic's of my project anymore.

you are the only second person i have seen this done. it should work good for you:thumbsup:
