Hello all. I'm new here. You guys seem like a lot of fun.
Yesterday I picked up a Doodlebug from PepBoys. The manager is a friend of mine and gave it to me cheap because it was missing some parts. And it "wouldn't run." Apparently they canibalized it to fix some previously sold bugs.
It didn't have a chain, but I figured no big deal. Upon closer inspection, under the clutch cover I noticed... no clutch! A cheapie $10 clutch on order.
My initial plans for it were to take off the "non-running" 2.8 and replace it with a Lifan 6.5 I got from Harbor Freight for $75. But the darn 2.8 fired up on the first pull and idles like a dream, so I figured 10 bucks for a clutch and some mean-time fun would be ok.
Anyway, I have enjoyed reading this thread and looking to do the 6.5 swap myself as I am short enough, but a little heavy for this little guy. In the mean time I may get a smaller sprocket for the rear.
