What do you want to bet that "All the information" is that it was made in May 1963 (5-63), Hahahaha. Well, I don't think that'll be the case because I think they started making them in 69 didn't they?. Perhaps it was the 63rd bike off the line in may?.
They started in 69 to 72 according to Mark. Bike number 5 in June the 3rd, wishful thinking lol.. Your version is more possible though...Speculating can be fun!

Thanks for this thread! I had a hotdog as a kid and loved riding it in every vacant lot I could find back in the day. Unlikely I'll ever find one up here in Oregon.
Cool story.! I bet when you see vacant lots now it takes you to those days !

You have any pictures of the Hotdog ?

Just got the answers I've been looking for from Mark and Dave Grattan! 20210223_130354.jpg

Serial# 5-63 was built on 12-13-69 and sold on 12-22-69 for $165.00 with a 4hp tecumseh motor.

Looks like a first year bike and it made some kid happy that Christmas of 1969!
Now the search starts for a 69 hs40 Tec.

Using the inflation calculator, $165 in 1969 would be $1,210.65 today. Finding your 1969 Tecumseh HS40 is going to be tough, especially with the proper throttle setup, I have a 69 H35 but I already have plans for it... someday.

Wow That was an expensive gift. Not too worried about finding the 69 Tec asap since it runs and rides great as is. I see lots of Tecs and Briggs engines for sale here since most kids swap them out for the clone. I will find it for sure but most importantly my persistence has paid off.

Thank you to everyone that showed interest in this thread.
