Thought I’d share this kart I recently picked up. 100% original complete survivor. It’s been hanging in a barn for 50+ years. It’s in remarkable condition.
WOW, that is a real beauty. I would restore it just like it is. Maybe the only change would be the style belt from the engine. I would change to a AX or a BX style belt since you are turning such a tight radius on the engine pulley. This X just means it is cogged on the underside of the belt. That kart was before clutches were introduced. That is a real display kart but certainly is a rider either way. Enjoy it and it will build up arm strength. What state did you find it in? North Carolina?
If you tear it down or part-way down for assessment, I would love to see the drive system in detail; the pulleys and stuff and what is normally hidden by the shroud.

neighbor kid had one,had to be in the late 50s . didn't take us long to put bigger wheels on it, removed gov. etc. I was probably 14,15 yrs old then>. turning 80 this year. good ole days!
That drive belt system is more complex than I imagined. Wonder how fast it went with 'little Jimmy' at the controls? Mind you, fat video-game-addled kids were in short supply back then.
