Detroit Autorama

Whew! Glad it is over. It makes for a long weekend with lots of cocktails and beers.I feel like I was hanging out at Bikerscum's house waiting for his parts to show up! Just kidding John. The promotor who let us do the mini's gave us a big plug on stage at the end when all the trophy's were handed out. We were in the basement with all the rat rods and all the cool old school stuff. The upstairs was all the show cars. It is now referred to as the attic because the basement was the biggest hit of the show. Brian @ Motor City Mini's did a great job and all who participated and brought their bikes out. Their were 5 custom trophy's for mini bikes. 1 Best Custom A lil Indian chopper customized, 2 Restored a Plum Crazy won by Merlin a real nice Kid who loves tinkering with things, Unrestored which I won with my Plum Crazy Survivor Grasshopper. Rat Bike won by Chili with his Ruttman wild goose. 5 Best Custom was a Red Harrison owned and Built By Tony. The rat rod guys said it all started with mini bikes when they were kids. I wouldn't know. I did meet a guy who has a Engray Maico Spitfire and lives 5 minutes from me. So now there are two known. Going to look at it soon. I really love the Snow Draggin. Steve did a nice job. That was worth the weekend alone. Here are some more pics.

What a blast!! Had a great time with all the guys talking mini’s. Nice to put faces to names I see on here. Motor city mini’s setup, awards, trophies…..etc. was very well done.

You don't know me, you know nothing about me.

Don't even think for a second that you drink as much as I do.

So Steve was the special guest?

He came upstairs and chatted for a while. Seemed like a super nice guy.

I wish I would have brought one of the mini mini bike frames with me. There were a few minibike guys who asked about them.

Did anybody hear my interview on WWJ saturday morning about noonish. I guess the little engine made some noise and then I was asked a few questions. I have not heard it but I heard from some folks that I was on the air. WWJ deemed me "one of the main attractions" . That made me laugh but I did get some attention.

Yes I was not there until Sunday Afternoon to get my Trophy. So That's a Buckeye. Years ago when I was growing up in the 60's my dad took me to a U of M football game at the big house. I asked my dad who we were playing against. The guys next to us were Ohio State fans all painted white and red and they were screaming Buckeyes to us. So my dad says yes see the assholes next to us and the one over there (pointing to coach Woody Hayes). A Buckeye is a real asshole. LOl No offense to our Beloved Buckeye on Here. He is not at all. I just love to share that story when I can.
