Do we have any Tote Gote experts?

I bought this bike a few days ago, I don't have it home yet because my truck is in the shop from hitting a deer.

I think it is a model B with some extra tubbing , it has what I think is a 2 cycle Clinton engine I don't think that is right either, did they all have 3hp Briggs? What years were the model B made? Thanks.

Richard Trotter is the expert.You have set his gote radar off.He knows more about gotes than anybody.It does look like a clinton engine,and i am sure it did not come with that.But a very cool find.

Looks a lot like an early Model B or this VS...

I think you have a model B because of the 'hoop' on the frame as a clutch guard. These pics are a very original model B with the 3hp briggs with flojet carb and front mounted tank. Although this example is green, they came in multiple colors. Most were red or yellow. I would think the little 2 stroke motor on yours would have a hard time getting any power.

The clutch is not original to the bike.The brake looks as if it was made.Should be a band brake on a drum.Never seen a pulley and a belt for a brake.I dont see why that would not work though.

That is the original Salsbury 400 clutch, and most of the original V belt brake, just like my Model B. The brake should have a metal band around the outside, like my pic below.

You have a Model B. The front mud plate is original, mine had one but was gone before I got it. Remnants of the welds were still there. The two vertical tubes in front of the motor were probably added when they installed that motor. Looks like there was some work done at the rear axle tabs too. The tires/rims/hubs are not orig. My kickstand retainer is mounted inside, instead of outside like yours.

Not trying to correct, but glad to share info. The Model B's had 3 different clutch systems. Salsbury was used less than the others from what I have gathered.

The model B was made with 3 different clutches. The very early B's had the Deepco Maxmatic clutch. They later had the Salsbury 400 as Stangrcr1 said. The very last B's had the Bonham Climbaway. Every tote gote after the model B had the climbaway.

Thanks for the info guys, I was hoping it was more original but it will still make a nice rider. I am going to have to put a different motor on it this one vibrates the handle bars a lot. What years were the model Bs made?
