Do you ride a Motorcycle?

The only thing I enjoy riding more than my mini bikes is my Harley wide glide. I tried to give it that 70's chopper look so I raked it 14 degrees and extended the fork tubes 8" over then added a 30" capt. america style sissy bar.........
That looks real nice, classy, not over done. I like how you went out not up. I'm not a huge fan of the "triangle" look. I think that's a great new version of an old look. nice job.

I like the Royal Enfield in the photo above. There's one of those on my loooong shopping list for when I win the lottery. In the meantime, besides my 3 minis I've also got about 10 motorcycles of different types, street bikes, dirt bikes, etc. The latest acquisition is this 1975 Yamaha RD350 that I bought about a year ago. I shopped hard for about 2 years before I found it way out in Ohio. It just turned over 5,000 miles a couple of weekends ago.

Hey all! Unlike most people, I had the motorcycle first (got it about 7 years ago) and just in the last year, got the mini bikes (because I never got to have one as a kid!).

Here is my original two wheeled toy, a 1973 Honda CB500K2 with a 500cc 4 cylinder SOHC engine.

When I bought it, it had a ton of issues including a beat up fairing, big ole' couch like seat, bad brakes, out of tune engine, rusted tank, black spray painted engine, crappy electrical system, you name it. It has been a project ever since but runs awesome now that I have basically went through just about everything with a list of mods I did to it that could fill a page! I do still have a few things in the works for it such as a front brake dual disc conversion, when I get a break from working on the mini. :scooter:

Tom:
Out of all the bikes here yours tugs at my heart strings the most.
I had a 1977 RD 400 just about identical to yours. I have had a few bikes over the years (the CBX was cool) but the feeling of a 2-stroke on the street is unique.
Fun fact: the motor will run backwards, ask me how I know! :)

A thought for those who are uncomfortable riding Motorcycles on the street.

Motorcycle Headlight Modulators will cause your headlight to blink low beam to high beam rapidly about 4 times a second and are 50 state legal.

"Official U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Governing Motorcycle Headlight Modulators"
Motorcycle Headlight Modulator Regulations - webBikeWorld
Excerpt:
"This Federal law supersedes all state laws and makes motorcycle headlight modulators legal in all 50 states."

I have used them for years and they do work. People see you coming. You look like an emergency vehicle and people get out of your way.

That works good for the front end, try this for the back end:

Signal Dynamics Back Off Wig Wag
Excerpt:
· This compact, solid state electronic module converts your ordinary brake light into 2 choices of attention-getting, visual-alerts when the brakes are applied
· Mode one emits 4 quick, alternating flashes of left and right brake light followed by 3 short flashes and one long flash of both brake lights; pattern of 3 short flashes and one long flash of both lights repeats as long as brakes are applied
· Mode two emits 4 quick, alternating flashes of left and right brake light followed by 3 short flashes of both brake lights and then a steady on; brake lights remain on until brakes are released
· Designed for bikes equipped with 2 brake lights located side by side

I have a Goldwing and the backend lights up like Christmas when the brake is applied.
There is no substitute for defensive driving on a motorcycle but modulators and the Wig Wag make you more visible than a lime green vest!

I can but I don't. I hate street riding. I've also spent the last 12.5 years working at a Harley dealership.

The last bike I owned was an '82 YZ490.

I crashed my Dyna in May of 2012, head on into a BMW. I am strictly a dirt bike rider until my kids are done with college....wife's orders. I replaced the Harley with a Charger SRT8, boat and a couple mini bikes.

This is what I ride now. I did the Harley thing, the Crotch Rocket thing and always find myself coming back to the Duel Sport bike. This is my 3rd one now. I feel safest and seem to have the most fun on it. If need be I can put it on the sidewalk, slide it or do what ever you have to do to get out of the way of some idiot in a car. There is that occasional wheelie if I want to also. If you see a short cut through a field you have that option too. I will give you that you will not be ridding across the country on it but it works for me.
Tom I really dig the SRX-6:thumbsup:

I've been riding on the street since I was 16, actually even a few times before that, LOL. My current ride is a 2007 Aprilia Tuono Factory - 1000cc vtwin.
