The Doodle Sprug. Well, this has been an effort of love since at least May 4th of 2019, the idea even earlier. It has now been completed (I think) about Columbus Day this year. The Idea was what would a sprung Doodlebug be like? Well, stupid, why don't you build one and find out?! So I did. I have an arc welder and an acetylene torch, but I am a bit shaky these days and didn't want to risk it. Finding a welder to do this cheaply took over a year as my usual guy (in Ohio) got too busy building Hot Rods for his boss, another friend passed away (sad), so this project just sat for a while. Any hoo, she is sporting Gilson swing arm/jackshaft, Chaparral? shocks, rear down tubes are from a 1980 Columbia 10 spd. frame, a payphone wall mount for an engine plate, a European moped? tool box, a motorcycle sissy bar headrest for a saddle, a garage door opener bracket for a front seat mount, gilson 6" rear wheel, a 5" industrial wheel tire with a 5" unknown minibike rear brake for the front wheel, I shortened the DB fork 2.5" and inserted an automotive valve spring to handle front cushioning, a homemade stainless-steel rear fender, a really modified/widened DB front fork and fender (welded 10 times for holes it had). Including a remade ferule for where the fork top meets the fender opening. It also sports an old kart engine circa 1981 3h.p. I changed over from a diaphragm carb to a float version as did not have a new rubber diaphragm.
No, I have yet to field test it.
