Tell me about it! I build my motors pretty well and I'm constantly checking and changing oil. I do it so often I find myself making a blend of new and used oil just to get some life out of it. I switched over to high mileage synthetic blends because it helps me sleep at night drives me bonkers.
Why would you mix fresh oil with used oil? I use a quality synthetic oil in all my engines. Amsoil 0W/20 in the Prius and 5W/30 in the Escape and 10W/30 in all of my small engines. I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT which my son's daily driver with 438,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. Here is the picture from a year ago to prove it. The Predator takes just over 1/2 a quart which is plenty cheap insurance even with an expensive full synthetic oil like Amsoil. 20190906_202641_resized.jpg

I don't like to waste it. I use the "mixed used oil" for things like break ins, chainsaw bar oil and to test motors that I'm diagnosing, basically a last use before its recycled.
