Nice, thats the exact El Tigre I have also. Yours might be in slightly better condition chrome wise. Mine looks a lot different after the predator swap and rigid forks :).

How do you take apart the fork from the springs?
It's a daunting task , you can see the disaster I started with , you have to cut off the fender mount to seperate the forks then you can unthread the lower tubes from the uppers Thats if they are not completely siezed up as mine were and had been arc welded together too , Isoaked em for days in PB blaster and could only get one side apart . The upper solid steel rods are part of the handlebar assembly , the fork lowers slide over them and the springs and spring cups is all that holds them together , I had to refabricate everything , new upper rods , new lower tubes and reassemble , after all cutting grinding and welding chrome was toast so my El Tigre is painted , I did save the chrome handlebars though ! I'll wish you luck as it's a job !!
